Three benefits most websites still advertise on this card no longer exist. Here is the accurate, current picture.
The SBI ELITE Credit Card is a premium lifestyle card with a joining and annual fee of Rs 4,999 plus GST, best known for free movie tickets worth Rs 6,000 a year, 5X rewards on dining, grocery and departmental stores, lounge access with no spend condition, and one of India’s lowest forex markups at 1.99 percent. It is a strong first year card and a weak long term rewards card.
Three Benefits That No Longer Exist:
Start here, because a lot of pages still list benefits this card lost. If you are applying based on those, you will be disappointed.
| Benefit | Status | What happened |
|---|---|---|
| Club Vistara Silver membership | Gone | Vistara merged into Air India in November 2024 and the Club Vistara program was wound down |
| Trident Privilege Red Tier membership | Gone | Withdrawn with effect from 30 June 2024 |
| Air accident cover of Rs 1 crore | Gone | Discontinued with effect from 15 July 2025 per SBI Card’s own customer notices |
What survives is the Rs 1 lakh fraud liability cover. Treat any page that still promises Club Vistara, Trident, or a Rs 1 crore air accident cover on this card as out of date.
In their place, SBI now offers a complimentary one year Club ITC membership at Silver Tier, which gives 50 percent off the second night of a stay at ITC Hotels. It is a narrower benefit than the two it replaced, since it only pays off if you actually stay at ITC properties, but it is current and it is the one hotel perk this card still carries.
SBI Card ELITE Is Not SBI Card Miles ELITE:
These two names get mixed up constantly, and they are separate products. SBI Card ELITE is the lifestyle card covered here, and it has no airline or hotel transfer partners at all. SBI Card Miles ELITE is a travel card that does let you convert points to airline and hotel partners. If you came looking for a card to transfer points into Accor or an airline program, you want Miles ELITE, not this one.
Features at a Glance of SBI Elite Credit Card
| Feature | Detail |
|---|---|
| Card type | Premium lifestyle card |
| Networks | Visa, Mastercard, American Express, RuPay Select |
| Joining fee | Rs 4,999 plus GST |
| Annual fee | Rs 4,999 plus GST, waived on Rs 10 lakh annual spend |
| Welcome benefit | E-gift voucher worth Rs 5,000, plus 1 year Club ITC membership |
| Accelerated rewards | 10 points per Rs 100 on dining, grocery, departmental stores |
| Base rewards | 2 points per Rs 100 on other eligible spends |
| Point value | 1 point = Rs 0.25 |
| Movie benefit | 2 free tickets a month, worth up to Rs 6,000 a year |
| Domestic lounge | 2 visits a quarter, 8 a year |
| International lounge | 6 visits a year via Priority Pass, max 2 a quarter |
| Forex markup | 1.99 percent |
| Transfer partners | None |
| Points validity | 24 months from the date earned |
How You Earn Reward Points on SBI Elite Credit Card
| Spend category | Reward rate |
|---|---|
| Dining, grocery, departmental stores | 10 points per Rs 100, about 2.5 percent |
| All other eligible spends | 2 points per Rs 100, about 0.5 percent |
| Fuel, rent, wallet load, cash advance, EMI, Flexipay, balance transfer, government | No points |
The accelerated categories are capped at 10,000 points a month combined, after which those spends drop to the base rate. That cap works out to roughly Rs 1 lakh of dining and grocery spend a month. The base rate of 0.5 percent is the card’s weakest number and is poor for general spending, so this card only makes sense if you can concentrate spending in the bonus categories.
Milestone Benefits:
The milestone structure is where the bulk of the card’s reward value sits.
| Annual spend | Bonus points | Value |
|---|---|---|
| Rs 3 lakh | 10,000 points | Rs 2,500 |
| Rs 4 lakh | 10,000 points | Rs 2,500 |
| Rs 5 lakh | 15,000 points | Rs 3,750 |
| Rs 8 lakh | 15,000 points | Rs 3,750 |
| Total possible | 50,000 points | Rs 12,500 |
There is an awkward gap here on SBI Elite Credit Card. The final milestone lands at Rs 8 lakh, but the annual fee waiver needs Rs 10 lakh. That means the last Rs 2 lakh of spending earns you no milestone bonus and only chases the fee waiver, which is worth Rs 4,999. Work out whether that extra spend is worth it for you rather than assuming it is.
The April 2026 Redemption Change:
Effective 1 April 2026, SBI Card tightened how points convert to statement credit, and it applies to this card.
- Statement credit redemption is capped at 60,000 points per card per calendar month.
- Statement credit redemption is allowed only in multiples of 4,000 points, so a balance below 4,000 points cannot be cashed out at all.
- A redemption fee of Rs 99 plus GST applies per redemption batch.
A separate SBI devaluation took effect on 1 July 2026, but that one applies to the PhonePe SBI cards only and does not touch this card. Several articles have blurred the two, so do not panic about it.
Movie Ticket Benefit, the Card’s Best Perk:
| Detail | Terms |
|---|---|
| What you get | 2 free movie tickets a month via BookMyShow |
| Discount per ticket | Up to Rs 250, so up to Rs 500 a month across the 2 tickets |
| Annual value | Up to Rs 6,000 |
| Key condition | You must book at least 2 tickets in a single transaction to get the discount |
| Watch out | The BookMyShow convenience fee is still charged separately |
| Where | Apply the SBI Signature or ELITE offer under Unlock Offer at checkout |
If you watch two films a month, this perk alone more than covers the annual fee. It is the single strongest reason to hold the card, and it is worth more than the reward points for most people.
Lounge Access With No Spend Condition:
| Lounge type | Per quarter | Per year |
|---|---|---|
| Domestic airport lounge | 2 visits | 8 visits |
| International lounge, Priority Pass | 2 visits | 6 visits |
This is a quiet advantage worth calling out. Unlike the IDFC metal cards like IDFC FIRST Ashva Credit Card & IDFC FIRST Mayura Credit Card, which lock lounge access behind a Rs 20,000 monthly spend, lounge access here has no prior spend condition. The Priority Pass membership is worth USD 99, is valid for two years, and covers the primary cardholder only. Once your 6 complimentary international visits are used, each further visit costs up to USD 27 plus taxes, so keep count.
Forex Markup and Other Charges:
| Charge | Amount |
|---|---|
| Forex markup | 1.99 percent, among the lowest in India |
| Reward redemption fee | Rs 99 plus GST per batch |
| Fuel surcharge waiver | 1 percent on Rs 500 to Rs 4,000, capped at Rs 250 a cycle |
| Rent payment processing fee | Rs 99 plus GST per transaction |
| Fraud liability cover | Rs 1 lakh, report loss within 48 hours |
The 1.99 percent forex markup is a genuine strength. Most rival cards sit at 3.5 percent, so on Rs 5 lakh of foreign spending this card saves you around Rs 7,500 against a 3.5 percent card.
Network Variants and What Changes:
| Network | Extra benefit |
|---|---|
| Mastercard | Complimentary golf rounds and lessons, discount at Lalit hotels |
| American Express | Discounted dining rates at partner restaurants |
| Visa | Car rental discounts with Hertz and Avis |
| RuPay Select | UPI linking and RuPay Select privileges |
Most of the core benefits are identical across the four networks, so pick the variant whose extra perk you will actually use. The Mastercard variant is the usual pick because of the golf access.
Eligibility: SBI Elite Credit Card
- Income of roughly Rs 60,000 a month, about Rs 7.2 lakh a year, for salaried applicants.
- Self employed applicants are generally assessed on an ITR above Rs 7.2 lakh a year.
- A credit score of 750 or above materially improves approval odds.
- Indian resident with standard identity, address and income proof, plus recent salary slips or bank statements.
- Add on cards are available for family members.
These are indicative criteria rather than a hard rule, and SBI decides each application on the full profile, so treat the income figures as a guide.
Pros and Cons: SBI Elite Credit Card
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Movie tickets worth up to Rs 6,000 a year, the best perk in this segment | Base reward rate of just 0.5 percent on general spends |
| Forex markup of 1.99 percent, among the lowest in India | Fee waiver needs Rs 10 lakh a year, one of the steepest around |
| Lounge access with no monthly spend condition | No airline or hotel transfer partners at all |
| Milestone bonuses worth up to Rs 12,500 a year | Point value is only Rs 0.25, and 5X categories cap at 10,000 points a month |
| Welcome voucher of Rs 5,000 nearly covers the first year fee | April 2026 redemption limits cap statement credit and force 4,000 point blocks |
| Four networks to choose from, with different extra perks | Club Vistara, Trident and the Rs 1 crore air accident cover are all gone |
How It Compares With Other Cards:
| Feature | SBI ELITE | HSBC TravelOne | Axis Horizon | IDFC Ashva |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Annual fee | Rs 4,999 | Rs 4,999 | Rs 3,000 | Rs 2,999 |
| Fee waiver | Rs 10 lakh | Rs 8 lakh | None | None |
| Forex markup | 1.99 pct | 3.5 pct | 3.5 pct | 1 pct |
| Transfer partners | None | 20 plus | 20 plus | None |
| Best point value | Rs 0.25 | Re 1 plus | Re 1 plus | Rs 0.40 |
| Lounge spend gate | None | None | None | Yes, 20k |
| Movie benefit | Rs 6,000 a yr | BOGO | None | BOGO |
| Points expiry | 24 months | About 3 yrs | About 3 yrs | Never |
The read is clear. On rewards value the travel cards beat it easily, because a point you can move to an airline is worth several times a point stuck at Rs 0.25. Where this card wins is the movie benefit, the low forex, and lounge access that does not make you chase a monthly spend target.
Who Should Get This Card:
- Frequent moviegoers, since two tickets a month can be worth more than the annual fee on its own.
- Heavy spenders on dining, grocery and departmental stores who can use the 5X rate.
- People who spend abroad and want a 1.99 percent forex markup instead of 3.5 percent.
- Anyone who wants lounge access without tracking a monthly spend condition.
SBI Elite Credit Card is a poor fit if you want airline transfers, a high base reward rate, or a realistic fee waiver, or if your spending is spread across fuel, rent and utilities, all of which earn nothing here.
Our Rating Out of Five:
Balancing the excellent movie benefit, low forex and ungated lounge access against a poor base rate, no transfer partners, a steep fee waiver and a run of quiet devaluations, SBI Elite Credit Card earns 3 out of 5. Strong first year, weak long term.
| Category | Score | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Movies and lifestyle | 5 / 5 | Best in segment, worth Rs 6,000 a year |
| Rewards value | 2 / 5 | 0.5 percent base, Rs 0.25 a point, no transfers |
| Travel and forex | 4 / 5 | 1.99 percent forex, ungated lounges |
| Fees and waiver | 2.5 / 5 | Rs 10 lakh waiver is steep |
| Overall | 3 / 5 | Great year one, questionable year two |
Final Take: Worth It for Year One, Reassess After
The honest summary is this. The Rs 5,000 welcome voucher almost cancels the first year fee, and if you use the movie benefit fully you are already ahead by Rs 6,000 a year. That makes the SBI ELITE Credit Card easy to recommend for a first year. From year two, the maths gets harder: the Rs 10 lakh fee waiver is steep, the base rate is weak, points cannot be transferred anywhere, and the card has lost Club Vistara, Trident and its air accident cover in the past two years, with only a narrower Club ITC membership added back.
Our recommendation is to take it if you watch films regularly, spend on dining and groceries, or travel abroad, and to review it honestly at renewal. If you mainly want travel rewards, a transfer card such as HSBC TravelOne or Axis Horizon will give you far more value per point.
Frequently Asked Questions: SBI Elite Credit Card
Is the SBI ELITE card worth it in 2026?
It is worth it for year one, where the Rs 5,000 welcome voucher nearly offsets the Rs 4,999 fee and the movie benefit can add Rs 6,000 of value. From year two it depends on whether you use the movie tickets, dining rewards and low forex enough to justify the fee, since the Rs 10 lakh waiver is hard to reach.
Does the SBI ELITE card still give Club Vistara membership?
No. Vistara merged into Air India in November 2024 and the Club Vistara program was wound down, so the Club Vistara Silver membership is no longer offered. The Trident Privilege Red Tier membership was also withdrawn from 30 June 2024. In their place SBI now offers a one year Club ITC membership with 50 percent off the second night at ITC Hotels. Many websites still list Vistara and Trident, but those are gone.
Can I transfer SBI ELITE reward points to airlines?
No. SBI Card ELITE has no airline or hotel transfer partners. Points are redeemed for statement credit, vouchers or merchandise at a value of about Rs 0.25 per point. The separate SBI Card Miles ELITE is the card that offers transfers.
What is 1 SBI reward point worth?
One point is worth about Rs 0.25 for statement credit and most vouchers. Merchandise redemption is worse, at roughly Rs 0.15 to Rs 0.20 a point. Amazon and Flipkart voucher promotions occasionally lift the value to about Rs 0.50 a point, so timing your redemption pays.
Do SBI ELITE reward points expire?
Yes. Points expire 24 months from the date they were earned, not from when you got the card, so points earned in different months expire at different times. Check the expiring soon tab in the SBI Card app.
What changed for SBI reward redemption in April 2026?
From 1 April 2026, redeeming points for statement credit is capped at 60,000 points per card per calendar month and can only be done in multiples of 4,000 points. A balance under 4,000 points cannot be converted to statement credit at all.
Is there a spend condition for lounge access?
No. Unlike several rival cards, lounge access on this card carries no prior spend condition. You get 2 domestic visits a quarter, 8 a year, and 6 international visits a year through Priority Pass with a maximum of 2 a quarter.
What is the forex markup on the SBI ELITE card?
It is 1.99 percent, which is among the lowest in India, against 3.5 percent on most rival cards. On Rs 5 lakh of foreign spending that saves you roughly Rs 7,500.
